Translation
Just imagine waking up every day knowing there’s a job awaiting you, which most say CANNOT be done. They say if it is beautiful, it is not faithful. If it is faithful, it is most certainly not beautiful.
We disagree. However, translation is not an exact science, and requires experience, knowledge of the languages and subject concerned, and a flair for style.
Translation is not just about transferring words. Nor concepts. The aim, as Umberto Eco said, is to translate the writer’s intention. Easier said than done. Luckily, there are plenty of brave people around, walking the tightrope of languages and juggling words. We are lucky, as many of these people work with us every day. It’s thanks to their skill and talent that ideas, products and services can find their way to the outer world.
